Technology partnership: CADENAS participates in developing the Asset Administration Shell

During the trade fair SPS – Smart Production Solution leading component manufacturers and software companies have commited themselves to implement the Asset Administration Shell in the upcoming years as common standard. CADENAS is taking part in the large-scale project.

To advance the digital transformation of the industry, several renowned companies have agreed to promote the Asset Administration Shell (AAS). During the fair SPS – Smart Production Solution from November 8th to 11th in Nuremberg, industry leaders CADENAS, Bosch Rexroth, Festo, HARTING, PHOENIX CONTACT, SICK, Siemens and WAGO have reiterated their support. To roll out the AAS on a large scale, they are participating in the Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA).

Major challenges pave the way to industry 4.0., explains Jürgen Heimbach, CEO of CADENAS: “The real product respectively machine and digital planning must get closely linked within the next years, to ensure sustainability and transparency of production.“ In this context, AAS represents one of the key technologies for the industry of the future.

What is AAS?

AAS is the technical depiction of a component’s digital twin. It contains information, prepared in such a way, that it can be used for industry 4.0. Furthermore the indications cover the whole life cycle of a component. For all involved enterprises to work with the same information and share data, they have to be available in standardized formats, which are compatible with different manufacturers and systems.

IDTA is looking for specific solutions to implement AAS uniformly and accessible for all. Because of that, the alliance networks partners from industry and research as well as organizations with each other. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action has realized the AAS’s importance for digitalization and promotes the undertaking.

"The idea behind the IDTA's lighthouse project is that leading players will establish the AAS so that successively other companies will work with it. The beautiful thing about that is, that all parties have a common goal“, expounds Thomas Lang, Key Account Manager at CADENAS.

Because CADENAS accelerates digitalization since more than 30 years, the software company is an ideal partner within IDTA’s network.
