Digital Twins for furniture construction: Würth provides access to BIM motion simulation for hinges & drawer slides in collaboration with CADENAS

Motion sequence of furniture can now be tested during the planning phase

Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG expands their 3D CAD product catalog, based on CADENAS technology, by adding important kinematic information to their Grass Tiomos 110° click-on hinges and their Grass Dynapro soft-close undermount slides in order to fulfill the customer requirements regarding furniture planning.

Furniture planners can now view 3D CAD models of the two Würth products, which will now contain additional information about their respective movement capacity. This way, virtual motion sequence and collision checks can already be done in the planning phase to test the usability of the products.

Kinematic product information reduces errors and saves time

With the Electronic CAD Product Catalog of Würth’s products furniture makers and planners can now configure the desired hinge or undermount slide to their requirements. The possibility of downloading the data in over 150 CAD formats makes it very easy to integrate the part into existing kitchen or furniture plans. The entire assembly can then be tested, including collision checks. Depending on the CAD system or tool used, the motion information of the 3D CAD models is directly available or can be activated.

“Furniture planners now have the opportunity to work directly with the manufacturer specifications for motion sequences without having to add them manually. This can drastically reduce errors during the planning process and save a lot of time,” says Dirk Hofacker, Team Leader Product Management of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG.
