BIM competence at CADENAS

The progress of the planning method BIM is not a one-way street, but is based on the proactive exchange of requirements and awareness. That is why CADENAS is well internconnected with various BIM experts and is involved in numerous industry associations. As a result, the software company not only does valuable work as a development partner to advance the planning method, but also ensures that the product data on 3Dfindit and the manufacturer portals always meet the current requirements and standards.

Karsten Spieß is one of the CADENAS employees who is particularly dedicated to the topic of BIM throughout the entire life cycle of a building. In his function at CADENAS as Head of Data Management MEP/BIM and Head of the BIM Competence Centre, he does valuable association work. For example, he is involved in the VDMA, VDI, DIN, DKE and other associations, which keeps him in close contact with the market. In May 2023, he travelled throughout Germany to represent the BIM expertise of CADENAS.

On 9 May, he completed the high-calibre panel of the BIM panel discussion at the CADENAS Industry Forum in Augsburg and the following day he gave a presentation at the buildingSMART-Anwendertag in Stuttgart. Finally, the VDI conference entitled "BIM in building technology" took place on 23 and 24 May. There, Karsten Spieß enriched the programme with input on BIM for complex planning in building technology, building automation and electrical engineering.

All four events focused on the sustainability of the BIM method and the latest developments in the construction industry. For example, the experts on site agreed that alphanumeric data that is structured, classified and machine-readable is becoming increasingly important in the context of BIM. On the 3Dfindit download portal, designers can find only manufacturer-verified 3D BIM models that match these high requirements.
